RIP New Wave Legend Dave Ball from Soft Cell

Sad to Learn About the Passing of the Soft Cell Instrumentalist

I’ve been a big fan of Soft Cell since I first hear “Tainted Love” back in the day. Also, I loved “It’s a Mug’s Game” and remember how hard that was to find since it was only an import single originally. I remember finally finding a copy at a Tower Records somewhere in the San Fernando Valley.

Needless to say, I was very sad to hear that Soft Cell co-founder Dave Ball passed away this week. My prayers go out to his family during this tough time.

Grateful to Have Seen Soft Cell Live Earlier This Year

We saw Soft Cell including Dave open up for Simple Minds earlier this year and thought they were great. It was definitely a bucket-list moment since I had never seen them live before. They performed an excellent nine song set and I would have loved to seen more. They have a great catalog of songs.

My first concert was U2 in 1987 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. So far in 2025 I have seen Simple Minds, OMD, Billy Idol, Howard Jones and ABC. In between I have seen over 150 concerts. I love 1980's music especially New Wave and 1980's alternative. I enjoy taking my son (Colton) to see these artists that I grew up with.
